The QHSS Spain trip spanned from April 21-28 and was an action packed cultural experience. From fine dining to sword shops the Spain trip was completely worth it. Here was the rundown of the first few hours on the trip, the flight took off around 5:30pm and we landed at 6:00 am (Spain time) and as soon as we landed we took a bus straight into Las Ramblas, otherwise known as the main street of Spain and spent the rest of the day there shopping and getting used to our new surroundings for the next week. Once we got back to the hotel, we were greeted with a buffet dinner of familiar foods.
Sharing rooms with our peers was quite the experience but it wasn’t anything unlike previous overnight trips with QHSS. It was a bit difficult managing wake up calls and sharing the small rooms but all in all it was a fun experience getting to hang out with friends for a week without parents.
The next few days went by quickly and were absolutely incredible. There were a few optional parts of the trip. Those being authentic paella making, and a 2 and a half hour trip to Toledo allowing us to experience the diverse culture and intermingling of different religions and how their architectural slides came together to Toledo and at the very end we went to a swords shop where they not only hand crafted and forged swords but also worked with other metals, making gold pendants and bracelets. Additionally, the group went to the Roy- al Palace of Spain and several other exciting locations such as La Sagrada Familia, a church constructed by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudi, Flamenco dancing, and a Tapas place that gave you several courses of small plates essentially being a multi-course meal. It’s nearly impossible to describe all of the fun that was had over those 7 days. As I look back on the countless memories I experienced during those seven unforgettable days, I’ve realized that no words can adequately describe the sheer exhilaration and camaraderie that filled each moment. Thus, this is the end of the recap of their journey, knowing that the magic of shared experiences transcends more than mere description.
