Every year we know we can count on SGO to bring us our annual winter treat as something to look forward to before break as well as something to enjoy amidst exams. This year’s Winter Treat had some mixed reviews, while most enjoyed it, others had constructive criticism.
An anonymous senior, when asked what they thought of this year’s winter treat, replied, “It was good. We could have had more cookies but I’m glad the cookies didn’t run out this year because they made it standardized.” The previous year, the best cookies had run out first, however this year they ensured that everyone received the same treat making it a better experience for all students. However, not everyone was fully satisfied with the treats. One anonymous junior felt that the treats could have been more on theme with the holiday season stating that “they weren’t as festive this year.”
Now what about the hot chocolate? Some students had strong opinions on it. One sophomore, Seah Park, shared, “It was better than last year and actually tasted like chocolate. Also, all my friends said it was better than last year too.” This year’s hot chocolate was definitely a lot sweeter and got more positive feedback from students. A little sweetness amidst the stress, reminding us that even though exams during this time can be tough, there are small joys to help us get through.
Despite some of the mixed reviews on our annual Winter Treat, it is still cherished by many students and is always long awaited each year. It’s clear that while there’s room for improvement, the Winter Treat remains a tradition that brings our school community together and helps us end the year on a sweet note.
