QHSS and the Cursed Child

The Music department has once again started off the school year with a bang, starting with a trip to see ¨Harry Potter and the Cursed Child¨ at the Lyric Theatre. Over thirty sophomores got to see the play, most of whom were from our school’s various music programs. However, the trip was open to all 10th graders that were interested. The outing included a visit to the beautiful Bryant Park, where the students go to eat lunch near the ice rink and enjoy the lovely fall weather. The walk to the theater also encompassed many different landmarks, including Times Square.

The theater itself was filled with 20s-inspired grandeur. The dazzling lights make it instantly recognizable amidst Broadway’s thriving theater district, making for a magical experience. The show was rich and imaginative, filled with a witty cast. The story revolves around Albus Potter, and Scorpious Malfoy, played by Arthur Bowen and Bertie Gilbert. The two best friends go back in time disrupting the flow of life. They must find a way to restore their lives and find their own destinies. The plot had everyone that the edge of their seats and the theatrics would bring the story to life.

This trip was a fun experience for all the students and the Music Department will be looking forward to hosting more events like this one. Mrs. Minaya said that she first went to a Broadway show with her friend when she was six.
